Most well known is the screening test for uterine cervical cancer known as PAP smear test .FNAC is another method by which a fine needle is passed into the specific site, cells are aspirated, studied and a diagnosis is made. It is a very cost effective simple procedure for diagnosis, to assess the prognosis and effect of treatment in certain diseases. FNAC is done in the pathology department. Ultra Sound Guided /CT guided FNAC from deep seated tissues is done in the Radio Diagnosis Department. Some times intra operative neurosquash prepartions are also sent to Pathology for immediate diagnosis to decide further course of brain surgery.
