The Jubilee Mission Hospital was started in 1952 with initially a medicine OP and later with IP patients. As the hospital expanded in strength the Medical Department flourished under the stewardship of Dr. Varghese Paul to become the largest medical unit in the district under the private sector.
When the Hospital was converted into the Jubilee Mission Medical College in 2003, the Medicine Department was the trusted name catering to large segment of patients from this and neighbouring districts.
The Medical College Medical Department was initially headed by Dr. M V Muralidharan MD DM, Retired Professor medicine from MCH, Thrissur, who guided the Department in the early years, and it is now headed by Dr. K B Mohan, MD, Retired Professor of Medicine.
The Department of Medicine presently comprises of 4 Units with 16 faculty members supported by Senior and Junior Residents along with the CRR interns.
The Department has been recognized for post graduate M D training with an intake of 2 PGs per year; and the success of the training is evidenced by a 100% pass rate in the M D examination since inception.
